Filming at the Royal Gunpowder Mills

Known for its rich history, unique industrial buildings and wild natural landscape, the Royal Gunpowder Mills has had its fair share of screen time. 

Royal Gunpowder Mills was delighted to host filming of Series 3 of popular detective drama Whitstable Pearl in April 2024, premiering on Acorn TV (available via Amazon Prime, Apple and direct) on Monday 21 October. We are featured three times in the series trailer - can you spot the site?

Series 1 and 2 are available now for free on U (formerly UKTV Play) and via a licence on BBC iPlayer. And stay tuned to our socials for more pictures; here's one of the lead actors, Kerry Godliman, relaxing between takes.

The site also offers beautiful scenery and carefully restored buildings which make great studio spaces for filming, photoshoots and documentaries.
